Psycho-religious therapy is a method of treatment,
which dovetails these two very active influences on the human condition in their separate
identity and finality. The religious horizon of the mind is the seat of faith and
superstition. This emotion-packed area first becomes deranged when hit by fear and
emotional bombardment. Therefore, in treating it, basically a religious approach is
essential. Those who get sick on account of shocking fright come under this treatment.
There is ample documentary evidence that a good or major percentage of the mentally sick
comes under this category.

We can divide those who become
ill as a result of fright-experience into three groups. |
|
In all these three groups,
illusory personality or turbulant darkness may be formed. Those who are subjected to
intensively shocking fear experience the numbing of all five senses; their brain becomes
inoperative and their individuality gets weakened. Eventually, their faculties of
discernment are lost and the obsessive monstrous idea grips their subconscious. Through an
unconscious process of association of ideas, coordination and assimilation personality
formation takes place. Love, hatred, guilt-feeling etc.become the root cause of this
personification process. As the illusory personality begins to establish itself over one's
own true person, change of conduct and derangement of activities set in. Then on he is a
different person, with a different set of modus operandi. For the average man this is
demonic possession - pretha badha - from a scientific perspective this mental disorder is
called illusory personality. |
