But what we witness on the dark pages of history are, on the one hand religious potentates devoid of scientific sense and perspective, and on the other, leaders of Science without a sense of religious and moral values! Thus science and religion came to be almost totally polarised and their subsequent progress turned out to be either abnormal or distorted. We have faced the inevitable consequences. Science with its chemical weapon and atomic destructiveness threatens the very existence of human kind; communalism and violence rendered religion not a unifying force but an agent of division and destruction. |

However, the term Religion has to be clearly understood at the very outset. Religion in its present from and shape is not meant here. The present day religion is a conflagration of many unwanted elements, which have to be rooted out. The religious Leaders who held the might and rods in the past were responsible for bringing out the change in purview of the term religion, though the present holders are any better. Religion in its essence, is the true and filial affection and relationship between the creator of the universe and the creature and the fraternity among themselves. This is an inborn relationship, which can neither be erased nor obliterated from the mind. The present day changes in certain communist countries are ample proof for this. |
